Kalie Mueller | Waking Up

About this Artist

For me, photography is a means of escape when life becomes overwhelming. It’s a form of therapy for my observant mind, compelling me to notice the small details around me. Suddenly the noise of the world quiets and my mind stills. I like capturing my surroundings the way I see them and sharing that with others, and I also enjoy seeing the perspectives of others through their artwork. I think even the most mundane moments can be beautiful, and that’s what I aim to show through my photography.

About this Work

As we have been transitioning from the darkness of winter into the light of spring, I’ve been noticing the positive effects of more sunlight. Longer and brighter days can make me feel like I’m “waking up” from a long sleep, and I begin to get some relief from seasonal depression. I love observing light as it streams through my windows or while I’m out enjoying nature, and I wanted to turn these observations into photographs.
