Jessica Broadhead | Shadow Puppets

About this Artist:
I love serendipity and movies that build your anticipation- photography is that to me. I like being a wallflower and watching a family interact or a person be themselves and documenting those moments. Waiting, being patient for the session to unfold, and ready when that moment reveals itself to you. That is what I love most- slow, serendipitous, building moments.

About this Work:
I love shadows. The contrast of light and dark. They make something that’s normal look different. How it paints across sidewalks, walls, and even people. For this project, everyday objects were used to splash dark patterns across faces making unrecognizable patterns or shapes. Combining faces with unique patterns made for a contrast of recognizable with unrecognizable.
